NP/PA – Women’s Health – Oncology – Job Description

Hartford Healthcare Medical Group is seeking a licensed Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Gynecologic Oncology team. This is an excellent opportunity to join an established, successful group of Providers and staff, Monday through Friday role, you will practice in a collaborative team environment where all providers are connected through Epic—our fully-integrated EMR system. This position will provide holistic, quality and cost-effective advanced practice care for patients, families, and others in a target population, and participates in the medical management of patients, to achieve or maintain optimal health status, manage disease and reduce risk of illness. This position will also engage in independent decision-making regarding the health care of individuals, families, and groups across the lifespan and the health care continuum.  This APP position will help organize and manage the chemotherapy practices, see patients for cancer surveillance, evaluate post-operative patients in the office, and facilitate palliative/hospice care.  You will have the resources needed to provide exceptional care on site. There are no nights, weekends or call required in this position.

There are no nights, weekends or call required in this position. 

This crucial role is responsible for independently performing a full range of tasks in delivery of direct clinical care services involving medical therapeutics to high risk patients. This position will be Outpatient.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES :

  • Evaluates, assesses patient illness/injuries
  • Performs physical examinations, and special examinations; takes medical histories
  • Develops plans of care
  • Intervenes in crisis situations or patient deterioration; provides routine and illness care
  • Orders medications; orders diagnostic tests and evaluates results
  • Assumes responsibility for patient follow-up, coordination, and referrals to other health care providers as necessary
  • Maintains patient medical records
  • May develop policies/procedures; participates in or designs changes in the system of care delivery
  • May participate in clinical research in conjuncture with Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Alliance
  • Provides patient counseling/education
  • Participates in medical student and health professional teaching; acts as a clinical consultant to peers and other health care professionals
  • Performs all other duties as required

SCHEDULE:   Full time- 32 to 40 hours per week. 

Qualifications

·        Completion of Approved Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Program

·        Current APRN license or Physician Assistant license required

·        Certification according to CT state law

·        Master’s Degree or PhD in Nursing or PA program strongly preferred.

·        Any of the following experience strongly preferred

·        1-3 years of experience with oncology patients.

·        1-3 years’ experience with patients undergoing chemotherapy.

·        Experience with palliative/hospice care.
