Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a successful candidate to fill a leadership role as an Electronics Engineering Manager 3 – Installation and Builds Manager for the Strike Program to join our team in Rancho Bernando, CA. This position will be in our Avionics Integration Organization.

The Installation and Builds Manager is responsible for all facets of successful delivery of the designed product to the end user. The selected candidate will report directly to the O&S Engineering Program Manager and Avionics Integration Functional Homeroom Director. The individual selected for this position will be located primarily in Rancho Bernardo, CA with the expectation of travel to Palmdale, CA as a secondary location.

Candidate must demonstrate the knowledge, leadership skills, and management skills to drive the on-time, on-budget, high-quality delivery of new systems and system upgrades to the customer in a sustainment environment. Candidate will lead a wide range of engineers to improve the efficiency and quality of product deliveries. The candidate will collaborate with user, customer, engineering, and program management to drive a common understanding of specific deliverables required within the confines of the contract. Candidate will define the structure of the installation and builds team and drive process improvements across their individual team and flow up to enterprise leadership when required.

Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead the installation and builds team from receipt of released engineering and documentation to handoff of the product to the end user

  • Oversee installation and build quality to verify the system will work as designed for the end user.

  • Oversee financial and schedule performance, ensuring milestones and contract deliverables are on-schedule and meet requirements.

  • Scrutinize existing processes and implement continuous product improvements to streamline the timely delivery of a quality system to the end user.

  • Serve as focal point for operating unit installation and builds team. Balance time between team leadership, collaboration across the NG leadership team and collaboration with customer leadership.

  • Manage staffing in collaboration with Functional Home Room (FHR) to ensure sufficient staff levels and appropriate skillsets are available to support the statement of work.

This position requires the ability to travel up to 10% of the time.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 9 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 7 years of related engineering experience

  • 5+ years of leadership experience and managing engineers

  • Active in-Scope, DoD Top Secret clearance.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain initial Special Program Access (SAP/PAR). This SAP/PAR must be obtained prior to commencement of employment and must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.

  • Willing and able to travel up to 10%

  • Proficiency with hardware and/ or software engineering processes throughout the lifecycle

  • Self-motivated and able to effectively work with all levels of the organization.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current Program Access

  • Previous Cost Account Management & EVMS duties and responsibilities.

  • Configuration Control Board Experience

  • Experience with ground-based computer systems engineering

  • Experience collaborating across stakeholders on schedule and balancing resources across multiple simultaneous efforts

  • Experience managing or engineering in a production or installation and build stage of the lifecycle

Salary Range: $180,600 - $271,000
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
