Job Summary
The primary purpose of this role is to translate business requirements and functional specifications into logical program designs and to deliver code modules, stable application systems, and software solutions. This includes developing, configuring, or modifying complex integrated business and/or enterprise application solutions within various computing environments. This role facilitates the implementation and maintenance of complex business and enterprise software solutions to ensure successful deployment of released applications.

Full Stack Engineer (Backend Heavy)

As a Full Stack Engineer on Store Selling platforms, you will play a crucial role in the development and maintenance of our software applications that is modernizing in store selling experience for the store associates. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and testing both the front-end and back-end components of our applications, ensuring seamless functionality and optimal user experience. The ideal candidate will be passionate about technology, possess strong problem-solving skills, and thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

What You'll Do

  • Build backend services to support the UI applications using technologies and languages including but not limited to: Node.js, Fastify, Express, Java, Micronaut, Springboot, Python, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, Postgresql, Kafka
  • Familiarity with front end technologies like TypeScript, JavaScript, React, micro frontends.
  • Deploy the applications to Lowe's hosted data centers or the cloud using technologies and languages including but not limited to: Docker, Kubernetes, Google Cloud Platform
  • Support the applications using data using technologies and languages including but not limited to: Grafana, Kibana, PowerBI, Elastic
  • Collaborate with business and product stakeholders, along with UI/UX partners and other engineering teams, to deliver well-architected and well documented software solutions.
  • Independently writes high quality, maintainable, and robust code by building adequate test suits (like Unit, Integration, Performance, Chaos testing, etc.) and observability framework (like Alerts, Metric Dashboards, Logging and reliability runbooks, etc.)
  • Guides application and software development teams in the design and build of complex solutions and ensures that teams are in alignment with the architecture blueprint, standards, target state architecture, and strategies.
  • Demonstrates expertise in at least 1 of the four competencies below with working knowledge of 2 others:
    • * Fronted: Building UI using React and NodeJS with proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML and CSS
    • * Middleware: Building resource efficient, scalable, and resilient Microservices and APIs using Java/Python/Go.
    • * Databases: Building optimal database persistence solutions using right database technologies (ex, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, Redis, KAFKA etc)
    • * DevOps: Creating automated CI-CD processes using containerization solutions (Docker), CI tools (Drone, Jenkins, Spinnaker), Orchestration (Kubernetes, Helm) and Infrastructure automation (ArgoCD, Rancher, Ansible, Terraform, Chef)

Where You'll Be

  • Associates are required to relocate to the Charlotte region to foster collaboration and facilitate improved testing and support.
  • Lowe's supports a Flex Office concept where in-person work is required two days per week at the Charlotte Tech Hub
  • Most business meetings are planned around the Eastern time zone.


Qualifications

  • Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, CIS, or related field (or equivalent work experience in a related field)
  • 5 years of experience in software development or a related field
  • 4 years of experience in database technologies
  • 4 years of experience working on project(s) involving the implementation of solutions applying development life cycles (SDLC)


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, CIS, or related field
  • 5 years of IT experience developing and implementing business systems within an organization
  • 5 years of experience working with defect or incident tracking software
  • 5 years of experience writing technical documentation in a software development environment
  • 3 years of experience working with an IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) framework
  • 3 years of experience leading teams, with or without direct reports
  • 5 years of experience working with source code control systems
  • Experience working with Continuous Integration/ Continuous Deployment tools
  • 5 years of experience in systems analysis, including defining technical requirements and performing high level design for complex solutions
