This position is for an associate business development banker focused on supporting and servicing relationships with commercial clients in the Sponsor Finance Group, a specialty team within Capital One Bank’s commercial banking division focused on providing financing, banking, and capital markets solutions to middle market private equity funds. This role supports the senior relationship managers in creating value-add pitchbooks, supporting credit approvals, analyzing financials, completing pre-screen deal memos, managing prospecting databases and assisting with data research, analysis and reporting.
Responsibilities
Ownership and completion of pre-screen deal memos through early read stage and direct involvement throughout the credit approval process. Including: analysis of industry, company financial condition, key risks and mitigants, application of pricing models/evaluating viability and profitability of the opportunity.
Supporting the deal process by answering questions from credit, note taking, completing AML KYC, as well as joining all deal team, diligence and legal calls.
Ability to work collaboratively and partner with internal stakeholders including Underwriting, Risk, Commercial Client Service and Support and Treasury Management to provide an exemplary customer experience.
Assist in the preparation of customer presentations, pitchbooks, and term sheets, as well as manage the pipeline activity for senior relationship managers.
Identifying most actionable prospects (key company/capital structure metrics from multiple sources) and applicable calling strategies. Mine Salesforce.com and outside databases to keep data current, and to identify and prioritize private equity firms and their key decision-makers.
Participate in business development networking activities
Ability to craft various financing views (structure and pricing) from scratch with limited senior relationship manager involvement.

Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or military experience
At least 2 years of banking experience
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s in Business Administration
Experience in Corporate Sales, Corporate Risk, or Capital Markets
Completion of a commercial credit training program
Proficient in MS Office and Salesforce.com
