nThe SWDC Threat Products and Services organization is responsible for the development and delivery of high fidelity threat data products in support of the Missile Defense Agency’s (MDA’s) ground test event simulations.
nThe Radar Cross Section (RCS) Modeling and Simulation Engineer role will help develop, analyze and Quality Control RCS models, produce RCS signatures, and be responsible for the verification and validation of RCS signatures. This position requires a detail-oriented mid-level engineer responsible for understanding RCS models, adjusting RCS models to work within the TMC’s RCS generation framework, understanding and verifying RCS results, and providing documentation required for running threat data in Ground Test architectures. The Modeling Engineer will support a team out of Schriever Space Force Base, Colorado Springs, CO.
nThis role requires employees to be onsite daily.
nEssential Functions:
nGood understanding of Radar systems and RCS phenomenology, as well as, modeling and simulation methods and processes.
nWilling to work in new areas of development and be able to pioneer new capability development and requirements.
nEffectively communicate requirements and processes to fellow engineers, system engineers, software developers.
nComfortable working with little or no direct supervision and work as an integral member of a geographically dispersed Agile cross functional team.
nThis requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.
nBasic Qualifications (BQ’s):
nThis requisition may be filled at either a Systems Engineer 2 or a Principal Systems Engineer 3 level.
nBasic Requirements:
nLevel 3: Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience, or a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years experience, or a PhD and 0 years of experience.
nLevel 2: Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 2 years of related experience, or a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 0 years experience,
nMust already possess an active DoD Secret clearance.
nAbility to collaborate with systems engineers, software engineers, model end users, and MDA ground test stakeholders to ensure product requirements are met
nStrong knowledge of Radar systems, Radar Cross Sections, scattering models.
nAbility to develop radar system model representations from radar specifications.
nFamiliar with Computer Aided Design tools and models.
nUnderstanding of the flight characteristics, motion, and performance of missile systems.
nUnderstanding of electromagnetic energy transmission, reflection, scattering.
nMust be self-motivated, able to work in a dynamic team environment.
nExperience with verification and validation RCS simulation results.
nPreferred Requirements:
nExperience in Electrical Engineering
nExperience in modeling missile signature representations to include Radar Cross Section.
nAbility to run method of moments codes.
nExperience developing FACET models from CAD.
nUnderstanding and experience with High Performance Computing architectures.
nAbility to reduce simulation outputs to RCS averages and scattering point representations.

nSalary Range: $79,300 - $118,900
nSalary Range 2: $97,500 - $146,300
nThe above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
nEmployees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
