Job Description Job Summary: This role is pivotal in shaping the direction and implementation of key technologies within the organization. The successful candidate will act as a technology advocate and coach, ensuring the seamless integration of manufacturing controls with IT systems. This includes developing time, cost, and quality estimates for projects, as well as creating software solutions such as Windows and web applications, database design, and IT-system integration with industrial controls.
Primary Responsibilities: - Technology Development & Integration: Identify and develop technologies that bridge manufacturing controls and IT systems, including machine vision, AI, RFID systems, digital work instructions (voice & visual), process monitoring, and data management.
- Project Leadership: Lead projects from inception to completion, including requirement definition, business case development, resource organization, and coordination of operational implementation.
- Evaluation & Communication: Effectively evaluate project options, present findings, defend positions, and address concerns to drive successful execution.
- Business Value & Outcomes: Define, measure, and communicate business value and outcomes to plants and stakeholders.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Influence spans across manufacturing, engineering, IT, quality, finance, product/process development, and supply chain. Strong collaboration and communication skills are essential.
Essential Duties: - Contribute to the identification and definition of projects, working under the guidance of a supervisor.
- Develop, implement, and support assigned technologies, products, and processes.
- Handle additional projects as assigned by the supervisor.
Application of Knowledge: - Apply engineering principles to deliver high-quality products and processes. Demonstrates competency and develops expertise in multiple engineering technologies. Work may involve complex features such as conflicting design requirements, incomplete market data, and multi-project coordination.
Judgment: - Independently evaluate and apply engineering principles to product and process modifications. Define project objectives and approaches, often dealing with unclear objectives and requiring the investigation of multiple variables.
Additional Information: - Work Hours: Normal work hours with flexibility for irregular hours/shifts as needed.
- Travel Requirements: Up to 25%, depending on role and project assignments.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and a strong command of multiple disciplines or technologies. Must exhibit strong leadership, organization, and project management skills, along with the ability to effectively communicate with both technical and business audiences.
