Top Requirements:

  • Experience working on design of mechanical automated machines or stations
  • Integrating designs with control/electrical systems
  • 5+ years holding a position as the primary designer of a company/corporation
  • Having executed a full system design (from concept to completion) on their own
  • Experience incorporating steppers & servo motors, all types of sensors, vision systems, complex motion systems or robots
  • Ability to calculate/estimate and then spec automation components to incorporate into designs
  • Experience working with CAD Design programs - specifically using SolidWorks
  • Hands on ability & interest to help build/prototype and test their designs

Nice to Have Skills:

  • Automated sorting or pick & place system design work
  • Any experience troubleshooting restaurant equipment like QSR machines

Daily Responsibilities:

Insight Global is seeking an Automation Design engineer for a contract to hire opportunity in the Plano, TX. This Automation Design Engineer will work onsite at a new facility that has been built specifically to design, build, and test new restaurant equipment that will launch in stores. This engineer will be joining the mechanical engineering team to act as an individual contributor to design mechanical automated machines and stations from concept to full system overview who will also have the ability to protype and test all of their designs. On a daily basis the employee will participate in team stand-ups to discuss objectives for the day and will work with the Fabricator and technicians to complete upgrades to their equipment. It is expected that this engineer works as a sole designer on automated systems and mechanical components including steppers & servo motors, sensors, vision systems, complex motion systems, sorting systems, "pick & play systems, and robots. They will also be expected to calculate, estimate, and spec these automation components that will be incorporated in the designs. The ideal candidate should also have working knowledge of SolidWorks to develop both 2D and 3D design elements. This role will also require cross divisional partnerships, meaning strong leadership and communication skills are also required!

***Compensation : starting at 120k

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
